Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard & Nantucket

Cape Cod keeps its best sights close to salt water: forty miles of dunes and open Atlantic beach at the Cape Cod National Seashore, Provincetown's galleries at the Cape's tip, and Chatham's working fish pier, where the fleet still unloads its catch. Ferry days reach both islands: Martha's Vineyard, with the brightly painted gingerbread cottages of Oak Bluffs, and Nantucket, the whaling capital of the world two centuries ago, where a full sperm whale skeleton hangs in the Whaling Museum, built into an 1847 candle factory. The John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum shows why one American family kept returning to this shore, and the journey closes with a traditional lobster bake, the Cape's signature meal.

2
Provincetown

The Outer Cape & National Seashore

Travel to the Outer Cape, where the Cape Cod National Seashore protects forty miles of dunes and open Atlantic beach. Stop at Highland Light in Truro, then continue to Provincetown at the Cape's tip for its galleries, village streets, and harborfront.

4
Nantucket

Nantucket & the Whaling Museum

Ride the ferry for a full day on Nantucket, the whaling capital of the world two centuries ago and home port of Moby-Dick's Pequod. At the Whaling Museum, built into an 1847 spermaceti candle factory, a full sperm whale skeleton hangs overhead. Then follow cobblestone Main Street through the historic town center, a National Historic Landmark district of weathered shingle and sea-captain brick.

5
Chatham & Hyannis

Chatham & the Kennedy Story

Begin in Chatham with Main Street shops and the working fish pier, then return to Hyannis for the John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum. Explore President Kennedy's life, legacy, and deep connection to Cape Cod before gathering for the tour's traditional lobster bake.

6
Sandwich

Sandwich Glass & the Journey Home

Begin the journey home with a stop in Sandwich, the Cape's first town, settled in 1637. At the Sandwich Glass Museum, watch a live glassblowing demonstration and see the pressed and blown glass that made the Boston & Sandwich Glass Company famous in the 1800s, then continue off-Cape toward home.
